Bible Journey For Monday, February 20, 2012

20 Feb

Here is today’s Bible reading:  Leviticus 9:7-10:20; Mark 4:26-5:20; Psalm 37:30-40; Proverbs 10:6-7.

Mark 4:27 (NIV)
Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.

The longer I am in ministry, the less I understand it.  Why is it that some churches flourish and others do not?  Why is it that some leaders have “success” and others do not?  That question becomes even more difficult when we consider those leaders of questionable character who attain this success.  The one thing I do know is that my job is to be faithful in preaching  the Word, praying, and loving people.  The results are God’s business.

Mark 4:40 (NIV)
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

I have been just like those disciples–fearing and doubting.  The good news is that I am growing–fearing less and trusting more.  Thank you, God.

Doesn’t Ecclesiastes address our not knowing why certain people prosper, and why others do not ? Maybe I’m stretching it. I don’t think He wishes for us to ponder His relationship with others. But it is more than that really. My relationship with Him is exclusive. Not considering His relationship with others, but wholeheartedly, and even intelligently, knowing Him, and specifically knowing who I am in Christ, in my relationship with the Father, everyday, all the time, waking, walking, and talking. Growing and changing in a Spiritually healthy way.

One day I will learn to be a woman of few words. But not today. 🙂

I am caught up – again! Good to have time away and waking up at 5 in the morning! As much as I don’t like Leviticus it certainly has made me appreciate the grace that I live under through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Other scriptures have really emphasized to me the importance of listening to God and walking in His Word. Changes our lives!
