Bible Journey For Wednesday, March 14, 2012

14 Mar

Happy birthday to my beautiful wife!  She is a gift from God to me.

Here is today’s Bible reading:  Numbers 21:1-22:20; Luke 1:26-56; Psalm 57:1-11; Proverbs 11:9-11.

Psalm 57:7-8 (NIV)
My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
[8] Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.

I believe there is a direct connection between praising God and having a heart that is steadfast.  Praise magnifies our view of who God is and increases our faith.  A big view of God produces big faith and a steadfast heart.  Praise Him!

Luke 1:38 (NIV)
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.

Mary is such an example of humble surrender.  Accordingly, she was able to thrive in one of the most difficult situations anyone could face. Note also how shortly after this, she breaks into a hymn of praise to God.  No wonder her heart was steadfast.  May I surrender my life as Mary did.
