Chapter 7 – “The Power of Contentment” (cont.)

“When you belong to Jesus Christ, the eternal is your real home.  There you are rich beyond your wildest imagination.  Unlike the temporary riches of this world, the wealth we possess in eternity is real wealth.  It will not fade with time, nor will a downturn in the stock market take any of it away.  This wealth will last forever.”

Chapter 7 – “The Power of Contentment”

“The endless cycle of wanting more keeps us from ever being able to sit back and enjoy this life.  Solomon said, “Those who love money will never have enough.  How absurd to think that wealth brings true happiness!” (Eccles. 5:10 NLT).  But as Paul wrote, “Godliness with contentment is a great gain” (1 Tim. 6:6).  When we choose to be content, we are able to accept and rejoice in whatever situation we find ourselves.  Instead of worrying about every possibility lurking around the corner, we leave the future in God’s hand and trust He knows what He is doing.”

Not only was the Buckeye football team dominant yesterday,  so was the band.  The Superman tribute was ridiculous.

…one and done.  So it is for my Cincinnati Reds who couldn’t overcome some untimely key injuries, a general lack of passion, and a hole in LF that never did get filled. I have reached a point in my life that my favorite Reds “player” is long time Hall of Fame radio announcer Marty Brennaman who has been doing Reds games since 1974 and was the baseball voice of my youth. In a sport where player turnover through free agency is great, one roster spot I can always count on is the voice of Marty to punctuate a Reds victory with “And this one belongs to the Reds!”   Unfortunately, it won’t happen again in 2013.
